Message Queue
Message Queue is a work buffer that holds messages from producers until consumers are ready to pull and process them. It decouples both sides so that differences in speed do not force either to wait or collapse.

If producers and consumers must always move at the same speed, systems collapse easily under spikes. Slow downstream work can block user-facing paths directly. If failures are retried blindly, congestion can get worse instead of better. Message Queue solves that by holding work temporarily between the producer and the consumer.
Modern systems often mix interactive requests with slower jobs such as email delivery, file processing, indexing, and settlement logic. Keeping all of that work directly on the request path became too slow and too fragile. A buffered work handoff became one of the standard ways to keep user-facing flow responsive while still processing downstream tasks reliably.
A producer places a message onto the queue and can often return quickly. Consumers pull messages off the queue when they are ready to process them. Because work is buffered, producer speed and consumer speed do not need to match perfectly, and operators gain a cleaner place to apply retries, dead-letter handling, and horizontal worker scaling.
Message Queue and Publish/Subscribe are both messaging structures, but Queue usually hands one work item to some consumer, while Publish/Subscribe fans one event out to many consumers. Queue is therefore closer to work distribution and throughput control, while Pub/Sub is closer to reaction expansion.
Message Queue is highly useful when you need to smooth bursts, move slow work into the background, or let many workers share a pool of pending jobs. But adding a queue does not remove complexity by itself. Retry strategy, failure isolation, and duplicate delivery safety all become part of the design once queue-based processing enters the system.
